Our Story
Teamwork Unlocked was founded in 2025 with a simple mission: to transform leadership development programs with a new, exciting learning methodology.
How we got here is quite a story. In an effort to build closer relationships across disparate teams in the vast Google Singapore office, Brian started an in-office board game cafe. Before long, it became the "world's largest private board game cafe" with over 400 games and thousands of users.
Fast forward a few years, and Brian and a colleague designed a full 60-minute escape room in the office. In under 6 months, the room had over 800 players and a stellar 97% 5-star rating. But more importantly, Brian noticed something interesting... Through observing the sessions, he was uncovering dynamics within teams that were otherwise hidden. He developed a short debrief for participants and started linking effective team behaviours in the escape room to success at work. After the most senior leadership teams in Google Asia Pacific commented on how impactful their experience was for team development, Brian knew he had the core of a new idea and started to develop an engaging, memorable approach that would deliver measurable results.
In the meantime, Tom, also a Googler, had experienced building a start-up helping companies create a better culture. As an INSEAD MBA and Harvard Business School alum, he had a reputation among his classmates and his Google colleagues for building fun and insightful tools. Among his more memorables endeavours were building a mural on the wall of the Google Dublin office, building a tool for a water gun game in Google Singapore, and helping INSEAD classmates network with the use of a custom built app. Having written his thesis about servant leadership, Tom always had a keen crossroads interest in leadership and technology and as such he joined Brian to build Teamwork Unlocked.
Thanks to Brian's and Tom's work and leveraging the format of escape rooms, Teamwork Unlocked facilitators are able to observe teams under pressure in a constrained environment to see how they REALLY operate. Our unique methodology enables us to uncover hidden barriers teams face in their effectiveness, and deliver insights to help teams unlock their full potential.

Brian Slattery
After 20 years of management experience living and working in the U.S., Japan, Australia, and Singapore, Brian found his calling combining team development with fun while working at Google, where he was highly regarded as a top facilitator, built the world's largest private board game cafe, and created an escape room that inspired Teamwork Unlocked.
